Oreo has always captured my attention with their advertisements… why? Because it has a lot of what I like to see, it has simplicity, where not everything on the page is stuffed, and it has a hint of humor.
Oreo really invented it’s own way of eating a cookie, one of the advertisements I remember the most as a child that represents that is an advertisement in spanish where a kid teaches his father how to eat an oreo “la abres, la pruebas, la mojas y te la comes” which means “open it, taste it, dunk it and you eat it.” Oreo created a cookie inventing a new way of eating, from the inside out unlike anything else. I find this to be completely effective rather than advertising it as a regular cookie you take a bite out of because it shows its fun side of eating it it shows that what they are selling is not just the cookie itself but also the experience that comes with it inventing its own category.
In their designs I believe they are strong because they stay consistent in what they create. In viewing their poster advertisements they keep simplicity usually a blue background representing their color for the product and in the middle adding their creativity with at least one oreo cookie. Leaving the white, or in this case blue, space it just releves my eyes and drags me into it and in seconds knowing what its about and what it is trying to say.
My favorite thing about their brand is their tag line “Milk’s favorite cookie” which is well known and is just completely engenius to me because it almost makes itself a complementary good along with milk tying itself to it so when you think of milk you think of oreos. It would not have taken the same effect if it stated “Your favorite cookie.”
This specific advertisement above also shows their humorous side as the oreo seems to be licking the glass of milk, which I adore and in small print “Milk’s best friend” simple, straightforward and a hint of humor. Overall I enjoy their work and find it effective.
