Billboards

While waiting for the bus I saw this Advertisement pertaining to marijuana for pregnancy and I honestly liked it. I like the way the letters inside the figure of the pregnant women pop with the green and yellow. I feel like that really emphasises what the Advertisement

is really about, it wants the audience to see the figure of the pregnant woman which cannot be ignored especially because only some letters of “Marijuana” are green and the “ju” are only halfway green this guides the viewer to direct its eye to see the bigger picture of the pregnant belly. This ad is specifically focused on logos or appealing to logic in the left it states a fact that “Statistics show that using during pregnancy has a higher risk of low birth weight or stillborn babies.” This is a researched fact that informs the viewers why marijuana is not good to take when pregnant. This ad effectively portrays its simple message that marijuana should not be taken by pregnant women as it could affect the baby.

Unfortunately, this is a very common billboard that I have seen back at home in the central valley that I saw in San Francisco this weekend. I say unfortunately because I really do not like it, in my eyes it looks terrible and there is just way too much going on in one billboard. To be a good billboard to me it should have a little in order to, with a glance of an eye, be able to give the viewer all the information quickly without seeing so much. This one here has their website, their logo, what they offer, how much for their service, and a picture. This billboard doesn’t appeal to me, as there is no place in this ad where one is able to rest their eyes. This brands audience are those that have unpaid tickets, it attempts to reach the audiences appeal by using pathos using the image of the cop to capture your attention and fear of getting caught speeding. The ads message that is trying to be portrayed is to call them for any ticket that you do not or cannot pay.
